Guarded Hearts and Clearer Vision
Then he sent him away to his home, saying, 'Do not even go into the village.'
Mark 8:26
When Jesus completed the man's healing, his final instruction was surprising: he sent him straight home and told him not to enter the village. Not everyone in Bethsaida was ready to receive, understand, or celebrate what Jesus had done. The town had already witnessed miracles with hardened, cynical hearts.
There are times when the work God does in our lives must be guarded with care. We do not need to rush into spaces filled with doubt or old labels to prove what Christ has done. Sometimes the most faithful response to God's restorative touch is to return home in peaceful gratitude.
As we gather around tables and in conversations this weekend, we have the opportunity to share our lives with those who genuinely desire to see God at work. We can talk about how Jesus meets us in stages and helps us perceive his goodness with fresh eyes.
