Carried by Community and Held in Privacy
Some people brought a blind man to him and begged him to touch him. He took the blind man by the hand and led him out of the village...
Mark 8:22-23
The blind man did not make it to Jesus on his own. Unnamed friends took him by the hand, carried the burden of his situation, and pleaded with Jesus on his behalf. We were never created to live in silos or navigate our deepest struggles entirely by ourselves.
Yet once the man arrived, Jesus took him by the hand and led him outside the village. There are moments when Jesus separates us from the crowd because our healing is too sacred for public commentary and spectators. He provides a quiet, protected space where we can listen to his voice.
Healthy spiritual formation holds these two realities together. We need a community humble enough to bring us to the Master, and we need the private intimacy where Jesus alone touches the broken places of our hearts.
Reflecting on Community and Solitude
Are you allowing trusted companions to help bear your burdens, and are you making quiet room to be alone with Jesus?
Today's Steps
- Identify one trusted friend or brother or sister in Christ you can invite to pray with you.
- Set aside ten quiet minutes away from the noise and distractions of daily routines.
